Outline: A method of learning the very basics of racing rules
- Give everyone a talk on what you’re allowed and not allowed do in racing.
- Ask what they think is the best way to cheat.
- Explain that you’re the judge, but you can’t stop what you don’t see.
- Get distracted a lot, (fix the anchor, look around, take out an over elaborately big newspaper) and pay no attention to all the frenzy of cheating going on. Make sure someone is still watching for safety.
- To finish off have a cheating race in which of course “The rules are, there are no rules”
Be aware that this means they don’t actually have to start and go around marks so you might want to add those exceptional rules in if they’re getting smart.
