Rulebook Racing

Outline: A great way to learn the rules. The students will know half as much as a parent of an optimist sailor. And that’s a lot of rules.

  1. Start a short course.
  2. Sailors gain 1 point for making someone do a 360, 2 for a 720 and three for any disqualifying offences.
  3. Sailors try and force other boats to make mistakes and gain points while going round the course.
  4. The sailors can also be accused of not sailing their proper course so the triangle course is maintained in some form.
  5. The first sailor to 5 points wins or the highest score in ten minutes wins.
  6. This winning sailor gets the “Future Angry Parent.” trophy. I made this in the shape of a megaphone, basically a cone of paper and some tape with the persons name on it. “RULE 69!”
