Aim: to teach man over-board, coming along side and have a bit of fun while you’re at it. (Only really works with small groups)

The Set-up:

1. Set sausage course
2. Anchor one rescue boat nearby
3. Put kids on two teams
4. Bring out 2 boats and a man over-board decoy (buoy with a tyre tied to it or if you really want a person) and bring the rest of the kids in the rescue boat.

Action Time:

While one kid (assuming ur using one-man boats) from one team does man overboard in one boat, another (from the opposing team) does as many laps as they can of the sausage course (ideally set a small course), they get a point for each lap/run they make.

All of the boats will have to come along side the rescue boat to change over teammates. The kids in the rescue boat don't get bored because they'll be cheering teammates on. Try and make it competitive i.e. boys vs. girls
Deduct points if they don't do man over-board properly, keep making them do coming along-side till they get it right, deduct a point for every time they get it wrong (don’t have to be too harsh, just if you know they can do it and they're not really trying, but Ii don’t mean push them to the point where you put them off trying).
The team with the most points win.

Kids usually enjoy it!
